Full Game Out in October

If you’re feeling particularly relaxed today, I’d advise against trying the demo for the newly announced puzzle game Wilmot Works It Out. It’s so soothing that you might just freeze in place, turning into a statue of pure tranquility. Future archaeologists will one day discover your peaceful figure, marveling at the serene aura you left behind. “What was happening in 2024 to bring about such extreme levels of calm?” they’ll wonder, before noticing the faint glow of your dust-covered computer screen, and the cycle of chill begins again.

Wilmot Works It Out is the sequel to Wilmot’s Warehouse, developed by Hollow Ponds and Richard Hogg, and published by Finji. While the original game had you managing a warehouse, this new entry has you solving picture puzzles—around 60 in total. In the game, an amiable postwoman delivers parcels to Wilmot’s doorstep. You drag these packages into the center of his cozy home, open them up to reveal jumbled tiles, and then piece together the images by sliding them into place. Once a puzzle is complete, it finds a spot on your wall, just in time for another delivery to arrive. The experience is pure bliss, from the soft click of tiles fitting together to the satisfying sound of a completed puzzle, all set to a calming piano score.

The first Wilmot’s Warehouse became one of our favorite puzzle games, winning accolades like Nicest Smile and Best Courier. In our 2019 review, Nate called it “a deceptively simple little organism.” Wilmot Works It Out feels similar in spirit, though perhaps less complex at first glance—there’s no time pressure, and the entire game is framed as a leisurely break from Wilmot’s regular warehouse duties, like a lazy Sunday afternoon.

However, there’s likely more depth here than meets the eye. The demo hints at increasing complexity, with puzzles mixing elements from previous deliveries and the possibility of unlocking new rooms and customization items. Even if it turns out to be as simple as it seems, Wilmot Works It Out is already shaping up to be a charming, calming puzzle game that invites you to unwind.

The full game is set to release on October 23rd. You can try the demo on Steam now and see for yourself how effortlessly relaxing it is.
